The popularity of “vampire facials” quickly skyrocketed once A-list celebrities like Kim Kardashian posted their treatments online. While this may seem like the perfect treatment for the spooky Halloween season, microneedling combined with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is now becoming dominated by exosomes.
How vampire facials are chronologically performed typically depends on the practitioner, but the essence of it is this: vampire facials involve microneedling paired with the topical application of patients’ own PRP.
Platelet-rich plasma is derived by drawing patients’ own blood, spinning it in a centrifuge to separate that “liquid gold” from other materials found within the blood, and injecting their freshly spun PRP back into the skin—or when it comes to vampire facials, massaging it onto the treated area.
Vampire facials promote overall skin rejuvenation, which includes firmer skin, the reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, more even skin tone and texture, scar healing, and more. With exosomes, however, the benefits that result from vampire facials can increase by tenfold.
Exosomes are the biggest (and yet smallest) advancement to enter the medical aesthetics realm. Unlike platelet-rich plasma, exosomes are not derived from patients, but instead from sterilized, donated mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). They contain potent growth factors including lipids, amino acids, proteins, etc. and have been clinically proven to improve patients’ overall skin and scalp health.
The industry’s most well respected and well known aesthetic physicians, like Diane Duncan, MD; JD McCoy, NMD; Raminder Saluja, MD; and Suneel Chilukuri, MD have endorsed exosomes as a highly effective post treatment serum that speeds up patients’ downtime, enhances their treatment outcomes, and rejuvenates the skin.
When combined with routine aesthetic treatments like microneedling, chemical peels, and non-invasive lasers, topically applying exosomes to treatment areas is now considered the “new” vampire facial… minus all that blood.
Practitioners as well as their patients are beginning to realize that the benefits of an “exosomes facial” greatly outweigh those of a vampire facial; it takes more time and puts more stress on patients to endure both microneedling and blood draws during a vampire facial. On the other hand, exosomes (ie: BENEV Exosomes) offer a smoother overall treatment process as they are conveniently pre-packaged and prepared, ready whenever you are to apply post treatment.
BENEV Exosomes are the preferred brand for providers, as two equally effective and highly potent formulas are offered: BENEV Exosomes Regenerative Complex (ERC) and Exosomes Regenerative Complex + (ERC+).
So for patients who are a bit more squeamish around blood or sensitive to pain, topical exosomes are the perfect solution for enhancing treatments with an add-on that makes patients feel comfortable. Now move over vampire facials, it’s all about “X-celerated facials” with exosomes!
Is your practice ready to swap out “vampire facials” for “X-celerated facials?”
